Computing and Information Systems, Cybersecurity concentration

The Associate of Applied Science in Computing and Information Systems provides students with the foundational knowledge necessary to meet entry-level employment needs of the regional labor market that includes Baton Rouge. Students gain knowledge, professional skills, and specialized hands-on technical training to position them for entry-level network security specialists.

To receive this degree, the student must:

• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 of higher in all credit hours to be used towards the degree.
• Earn a “C” or better in all courses in the program of study outline below.
• Complete the coursework listed below.

Program Outcomes. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:

1. Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments
2. Utilize critical thinking skills to collect, analyze, and interpret technical data collected through investigation and experimentation
3. Evaluate the human role in security systems with an emphasis on ethics, social engineering vulnerabilities and training.
4. Use appropriate security protocols to interpret and forensically investigate security incidents.
